- RECOMBINANT DNA LABORATORIES New
You
are invited to join us for a two-day laboratory experience to introduce
the revised AMGEN recombinant DNA laboratories. The new laboratory protocols
include: 1) producing a recombinant plasmid that incorporates a gene
for Green Fluorescent Protein, 2) expressing this gene, 3) and purifying
GFP using chromatography.
All materials, including continental breakfast and lunch, will be
provided by AMGEN and the Los Angeles/Orange County Biotechnology
Center.

Bio-Link is an exciting concept for all the
community colleges in the United States, the first Center for Biotechnology
funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) Advanced Technological
Education (ATE) Program. This Center for Biotechnology, Bio-Link, is
only the 11th NSF ATE Center funded since the inception of the technician-focused
NSF ATE program in 1993. Bio-Link's National Center is located in San
Francisco. The six Regional Centers are in Seattle, WA; San Diego, CA;
Austin, TX; Madison, WI; Baltimore, MD; and Portsmouth, NH. Check out
